The Texas Asphalt Pavement Association believes that to build a sustainable industry, we must encourage and enable a steady stream of talent to come up through the ranks. The TXAPA Scholarship Program is the actualization of that belief. Our dedication to quality is not just about product and execution; it’s about people.
The TXAPA Scholarship Program benefits promising students enrolled in engineering and technical programs throughout the state of Texas. It's funded entirely by the generosity of our members who actively participate in our penultimate fundraising activity, the TXAPA Scholarship Program Live and Silent Auction. The scholarship committee works tirelessly year-round to secure donations of auction items and cash, in addition to planning the actual event which takes place at TXAPA’s Annual Meeting.
Eligibility and Criteria
Qualified students will have demonstrated an interest in the asphalt and construction industries through their choice of summer or part-time employment. Grade point average is not a significant factor provided the applicant is a solid and consistent student. To qualify for a TXAPA Scholarship, a student must:
- attend an accredited college or university in the State of Texas,
- have attained a class standing of at least sophomore level, and
- be pursuing a career in the asphalt industry.
Scholarships are awarded each semester for a maximum of three years. Recipients are responsible for submitting enrollment verification and GPA information each semester to remain eligible.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit a completed application form (available at www.texasasphalt.org/scholarship-program) along with enrollment verification, GPA information, and a short letter describing your need for this scholarship and your future in the asphalt and construction industry. The application form must be completed and returned to TXAPA by April 10, 2018. The TXAPA Board of Directors will review applications and award scholarships on April 17, 2018.
